Media Specialization Week 9

Hooray! The planner arrived safely on Thursday. Just in time for the exposition. :)

Media Specialization Week 8

This has got to be the most stressful week up until now. The final design was finished last week and I wanted to print it out as soon as possible. I tried researching online for places where I could print on Monday, but there was none that would print out just one notebook/planner. Most require a minimum amount of 50 and more. So, I decided to go to Xerox for the safest bet and let them print it out.

Media Specialization Week 7

This week I spent the longest hours working on this project. The final design is finished on Adobe Indesign and everything looks complete. I have to admit that incorporating all these different elements alltogether wasn't easy, but I really gave it my all! What I did first on Indesign was scattering the pages randomly because I wanted to get the design out of the way first. After that, I tried to picture and move around with the pages to see where it would fit better and which paging system would make more sense for the viewers. This really gave me a headache (figuratively), but I am happy that it is now done. Perhaps next time I might change the way I work, but hey, this works so we'll see!

Media Specialization Week 6

This week, I did further research on how to incorporate the theory because I had to come up with something more polished and concrete. I also created the test to determine the future career path, as well as using Illustrator to design the left/right brain image for Indesign. Other than that, I played around with the design for the left/right brain theories to see which design would fit better and started researching and writing the text for the left/right brain careers.

Media Specialization Week 5

It is already week 5, crazy how fast time passed by! This week, I focused on finding the left/right brain assignments that would fit in the notebook/planner, however most of them requires a additional software to "play", and they would not deem fitable on a traditional printed planner. I never thought that it would be this difficult to actually create assignments for left/right brain.

I also started working the final layout on Adobe Indesign and experimented with the fonts and colors that I would like to incorporate in the final design. I chose two main colors, a light pink with dark grey with blue-ish tones. These two seem to fit well, as one is bright and the other is a bit grim. The contrast is perfect to highlight or emphasize a certain category if needed. I also want to add white and black into it, but black seems a bit harsh on the design. White would work out, since I still want to keep the design simple and let the fonts do the work.

For printing, I also checked out online where I could get it printed, but I did not specifically paid much attention on them yet. I will be doing further research once everything is settled.

Media Specialization Week 4

This week I focused on the layout and design of the notebook/planner. These are just some ideas that I wish to add into final layout, but it all comes down on the time that I have and whether it will fit with the overall feel and theme of the design.

Media Specialization Week 3

We had to present our presentations this week, but since there was no train going to Utrecht on Monday, I was absent in the lesson. Luckily, my learning team agreed to meet up on Tuesday for the presentation. While I was presenting, I realized that I like the idea of creating a notebook/planner more than a magazine. I guess you can say my heart fluttered more when I talked about it. After Casper gave his feedback, it seemed better to choose for a notebook/planner since it is more interesting, and the other concepts were generic.
